The 2026 BYD Han is also called the Great Khan. As long as an S-Class, as fast as a sports car, and with a range of 1008 km. It arrives in 2026.
Introduction of the 2026 BYD Han
And its name says it all. BYD has had the Han sedan for years: nice, fast, and affordable. But this is not that car. This is what happens when BYD says, ‘Now we will make a car without compromise.’
It was first seen in January, when it was called Han 9. Now it is known as the 2026 BYD Han. The Great Khan. And it’s really big. When it sits next to the Mercedes S-Class, the S-Class looks like it has grown a little in the wash. Over 5.25 metres long and almost 2 metres wide. A car that demands respect on the street.

The design was signed by the man who drew the Audis. And it shows—no more exaggerated lines and Chinese kitsch. The front is calm and serious, with those thin headlights joined by a chrome line that shines like a smile. The handles are recessed into the doors; the wheels are huge, with that little Han sign in the middle that always stands upright while the wheel is spinning. A telling detail – we took care of everything.
The real story about the 2026 BYD Han is under the hood
The 2026 BYD Han has a range of 1008 kilometres on a single charge. These are not made-up numbers but rather information per the Chinese CLTC cycle. And when you empty it, you don’t have to wait for hours. On their new fast charger, you get from 10 to 97 per cent in nine minutes. During the time you drink your coffee and go to the toilet at the pump.

There will be two electric versions. The weaker one, if we can call it that at all, has almost 500 horsepower in the rear. The stronger one has over 760 horsepower on all four wheels. It’s a supercar figure in a sedan where you can cross your legs in the back. And yes, there is also a hybrid for those who are not yet ready to completely say goodbye to gasoline. It can travel almost 500 kilometres on electricity alone.
Driving Experience for 2026 BYD Han
Driving is a separate story. This is no longer the tough Chinese car. It has air suspension that looks at the road ahead with a camera and irons out potholes before you get to them. The rear wheels also turn, so even though it’s huge, it turns very smoothly in the city. On the highway, it is calm and quiet, and when you press the pedal, there is no roar of the engine; it just glues you to the seat.

Luxury interior for 2026 BYD Han
Inside is a story for itself. BYD has finally realised that luxury is not in multiple screens but in the feeling. Leather is soft; real wood and aluminium are cool to the touch. The huge screen in the middle still rotates, but now everything works without jerking.

You have more seats in the back than in the business class of the plane. And above all, on the roof is that little bump – LiDAR. It is the eye that sees everything. The car drives itself around the city, parks itself, and brakes itself. Not because you don’t know how to drive, but because sometimes you want to rest.
When is it coming, and how much does the new 2026 BYD Han cost?
It will be launched in China in about a month, and they are already seeing it on the streets without camouflage, in that beautiful dark red colour. It will cost around $44,000 there. To us, it sounds unreal for a car of this size. In Europe, it will arrive in 2027. First Germany, then Norway, and then us in the Balkans. The price will, of course, be higher; it is expected to be somewhere between 65 and 75 thousand euros.

It sounds like a lot until you realise that these days you can barely buy a basic BMW 5 Series with a diesel engine. And here you get a flagship that takes a shot at the S-Class. The Great Han is not coming to be a cheap copy. It comes to ask, ‘Why should luxury be so expensive?’
In North America, the story is completely different
BYD does not sell passenger cars in America at all. The reason is tariffs over 100% on Chinese EVs and a ban on Chinese-related software/hardware in cars. Officially, BYD in the US only has an electric bus plant in Lancaster, California, and batteries – not passenger cars for ordinary customers. So the 2026 BYD Han won’t be in the US anytime soon. They even sued the US government for tariffs, but that’s for buses and batteries.

In January 2026, Canada and China signed a new trade agreement that replaced the old 100% tariff with a reduced 6.1% tariff, with an annual quota of 49,000 Chinese EVs. Wikipedia confirms the same – Canada replaced the 100% tariff with a quota of 49,000 vehicles. The plan is official: BYD is opening over 20 showrooms in Canada from 2027 – Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary.
Price for 2026 BYD Han in Canada
The BYD Han (regular) is valued at around $75K CAD. The Da Han is a bigger and stronger model.
Realistic for Da Han when it arrives in the second/third wave in late 2027/2028:
-PHEV version: ~ $85,000 – $92,000 CAD
-EV RWD 1008km: ~ $90,000 – $98,000 CAD
-EV AWD 764 hp: ~ $105,000 – $115,000 CAD.

In comparison, in China, it targets the segment of 300,000 yuan, which is $44,100 USD, but here, with 6.1% customs, transportation, and homologation, the price doubles.
